Led by Fitzpatrick, the Dolphins Blew Out the 49ers by a Laughable 43-17 Win

Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 in Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco was a day of celebration for the Miami Dolphins fans, as their team blew out the San Francisco 49ers in a 43-17 victory. The Dolphins rode a rushing game that produced 94 yards and one rushing touchdown, to go along with a Ryan Fitzpatrick performance of 350 yards, three touchdowns.

Fitzpatrick ended the game with 350 yards passing, to go along with three touchdowns, no interceptions, and completing 22 of 28 passes. This performance led to a 154.50 passer rating for Fitzpatrick.

The ground game for the Dolphins saw Myles Gaskin carrying the football 16 times, and Matt Breida helping with rushing the ball nine times. The two rushers produced 57 yards and 28 yards respectively in a winning effort. The passing game for the Dolphins had Fitzpatrick throwing the football to Preston Williams and DeVante Parker as his most productive targets. Williams caught four passes for a net gain of 106 yards. The secondary target (Parker) caught two passes for a net contribution of 50 yards.

On the defensive side of the football, the Dolphins produced two forced fumbles, four tackles for loss, five sacks and no defensive touchdowns.

Jimmy Garoppolo led the 49ers in a losing effort with 77 yards, completing 7 of 17 passes, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns, for a QB rating of 15.70.

The 49ers’ rushing game was led by Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr.. For the game, Mostert carried the ball 11 times, rushed for 90 yards, and no touchdowns. Wilson Jr. supplemented and carried the ball a total of four times for a total of 27 yards. Meanwhile Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the 49ers. Aiyuk caught three passes from Garoppolo for a total of 44 yards, while Bourne contributed with 30 yards from two passes.

In their loss, the 49ers defense contributed with no forced fumbles and one tackle to go along with two sacks and zero defensive touchdowns. This production from the 49ers defense was not enough help get a win.

With the win, the Dolphins leave with a record of 1-0 for the season, while the 49ers record for the season is now 0-1.
