Gardner Minshew II and the Jacksonville Jaguars squeaked by the Indianapolis Colts in a thrilling 27-20 victory, Sunday, Sep. 13, 2020 in TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville. The Jaguars’ win was helped by a rushing game that produced 91 yards and no rushing touchdowns, and by a 173 yards and three touchdowns effort by Minshew II.
Minshew II finished the game completing 19 of 20 passes, to lead the way for the Jaguars. He ended up with an overall QB rating of 142.30, coming from a performance that included 173 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions for the game.
The Jaguars deployed a rushing game led by Nathan Cottrell and James Robinson. For the game, Cottrell carried the ball zero times and rushed for zero yards, leading to zero touchdowns. Robinson supplemented by carrying the ball 16 times for a total of 62 yards. In the passing game, the Jaguars’ top receivers were Laviska Shenault Jr. and Keelan Cole. Shenault Jr. caught three passes for a total of 37 yards, while Cole contributed with 47 yards from five passes.
Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of one sack , zero forced fumbles, two tackles for loss, and no defensive touchdowns for the Jaguars.
For the Colts, Philip Rivers ended the day having completed 36 of 46 passes, leading to 363 yards, two interceptions and one touchdown. His performance resulted in a QB rating of 88.70.
The rushing game for the Colts was led by Nyheim Hines and Marlon Mack. For the game, Hines rushed for 28 yards from carrying the football seven times. Meanwhile Mack carried the ball 4 times for a total of 26 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Colts included Parris Campbell and T.Y. Hilton. Campbell caught six passes for a total of 71 yards, while Hilton contributed with 53 yards from four passes.
Although their team lost the game, the Colts defense ended the game with four sacks, and one tackle for loss, to go along with no forced fumbles.
After this game, the Jaguars improved to a record of 1-0, while the Colts dropped to a 0-1 record. After the win, the Jaguars now have a 1-0 record, compared to the Colts who now have 0-1 record.
