Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 in MetLife Stadium in New York was a day of celebration for the Arizona Cardinals fans, as their team easily defeated the New York Jets in a 30-10 victory. The Cardinals rode a rushing game that produced 127 yards and three rushing touchdowns, to go along with a Kyler Murray performance of 380 yards, one touchdown.
Murray finished the game completing 27 of 37 passes, to lead the way for the Cardinals. He ended up with an overall QB rating of 103.40, coming from a performance that included 380 yards, one touchdown, and one interception for the game.
The Cardinals deployed a rushing game led by Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds. For the game, Drake carried the ball 18 times and rushed for 60 yards, leading to one touchdown. Edmonds supplemented by carrying the ball three times for a total of 36 yards. In the passing game, the Cardinals’ top receivers were Christian Kirk and DeAndre Hopkins. Kirk caught five passes for a total of 78 yards, while Hopkins contributed with 131 yards from six passes.
On the defensive side of the football, the Cardinals produced no forced fumbles, two tackles for loss, three sacks and no defensive touchdowns.
Compared to Murray of the Cardinals, Joe Flacco of the Jets threw for 195 yards with one touchdown, and zero interceptions, completing 18 of 33 passes, for a 82.30 passer rating.
The Jets’ rushing game was led by Le’Veon Bell and Frank Gore. For the game, Bell carried the ball 13 times, rushed for 60 yards, and no touchdowns. Gore supplemented and carried the ball a total of nine times for a total of 30 yards. Meanwhile Jeff Smith and Jamison Crowder were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Jets. Smith caught three passes from Flacco for a total of 23 yards, while Crowder contributed with 116 yards from eight passes.
In their loss, the Jets defense contributed with zero forced fumbles and one tackle to go along with one sack and no defensive touchdowns. This production from the Jets defense was not enough help get a win.
After this game, the Cardinals improved to a record of 1-0, while the Jets dropped to a 0-1 record. After the win, the Cardinals now have a 1-0 record, compared to the Jets who now have 0-1 record.
