Led by Rivers, the Colts Narrowly Defeated the Bengals by a Nail-Biting 31-27 Win

Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts narrowly defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in a nail-biting 31-27 victory, Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Colts’ win was helped by a rushing game that produced 59 yards and one rushing touchdown, and by a 371 yards and three touchdowns effort by Rivers.

Rivers finished the game with three touchdowns, completing 29 of 44 passes. At the end of the day, he finished with 371 yards and one interception, and a passer rating of 105.40.

Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Taylor led the rushing game for the Colts. Hines rushed for zero yards from carrying the football no times. Hines was helped by Taylor who carried the football 12 times for a total of 60 yards. In the passing game, Rivers was most successful throwing the ball to Marcus Johnson and Zach Pascal. Johnson caught five passes for a total of 108 yards, while Pascal contributed with 54 yards from four passes.

Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of two sacks , one forced fumble, two tackles for loss, and zero defensive touchdowns for the Colts.

On the losing side of the game, Joe Burrow of the Bengals ended the day with no touchdowns, along with 313 yards, one interception, and a 78.30 passer rating.

The rushing game for the Bengals was led by Giovani Bernard and Joe Mixon. For the game, Bernard rushed for 15 yards from carrying the football eight times. Meanwhile Mixon carried the ball 18 times for a total of 54 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Bengals included Tee Higgins and A.J. Green. Higgins caught six passes for a total of 125 yards, while Green contributed with 96 yards from eight passes.

Although their team lost the game, the Bengals defense ended the game with one sack, and three tackles for loss, to go along with no forced fumbles.

The Colts walked away from the game with an improved seasonal record of 1-0. The Bengals on the other hand, dropped to 0-1 for the season.
