Led by Trubisky, the Bears Outlasted the Lions by a Thrilling 27-23 Win

The Chicago Bears outlasted the Detroit Lions in a thrilling 27-23 win, Sunday, Sep. 13, 2020 in Ford Field in Detroit. They deployed a rushing game that produced 149 yards, zero rushing touchdowns, to support a Mitchell Trubisky performance of 242 yards and three touchdowns.

Trubisky ended the game with 242 yards passing, to go along with three touchdowns, no interceptions, and completing 20 of 36 passes. This performance led to a 104.20 passer rating for Trubisky.

Tarik Cohen and David Montgomery led the rushing game for the Bears. Cohen rushed for 41 yards from carrying the football seven times. Cohen was helped by Montgomery who carried the football 13 times for a total of 64 yards. In the passing game, Trubisky was most successful throwing the ball to Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller. Robinson caught five passes for a total of 74 yards, while Miller contributed with 76 yards from four passes.

Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of one sack , zero forced fumbles, two tackles for loss, and no defensive touchdowns for the Bears.

On the losing side of the game, Matthew Stafford of the Lions ended the day with one touchdown, along with 297 yards, one interception, and a 77.20 passer rating.

The rushing game for the Lions was led by Kerryon Johnson and Adrian Peterson. For the game, Johnson rushed for 14 yards from carrying the football seven times. Meanwhile Peterson carried the ball 14 times for a total of 93 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Lions included Danny Amendola and Marvin Jones Jr.. Amendola caught five passes for a total of 81 yards, while Jones Jr. contributed with 55 yards from four passes.

Although their team lost the game, the Lions defense ended the game with one sack, and two tackles for loss, to go along with one forced fumble.

The Bears walked away from the game with an improved seasonal record of 1-0. The Lions on the other hand, dropped to 0-1 for the season.
