Mahomes and the Chiefs Squeezed Past the Browns in a Unforgettable 22-17 Victory

The Kansas City Chiefs squeezed past the Cleveland Browns in a unforgettable victory of 22-17, Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. For the win, Patrick Mahomes threw for 255 yards, and one touchdown. The Chiefs also relied on a rushing game that produced 123 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Mahomes contributed to this win by completing 21 of 30 passes, finishing the game with 255 yards, no interceptions, one touchdown and a QB rating of 106.90.

Le’Veon Bell and Darrel Williams led the rushing game for the Chiefs. Bell rushed for six yards from carrying the football two times. Bell was helped by Williams who carried the football 13 times for a total of 78 yards. In the passing game, Mahomes was most successful throwing the ball to Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman. Hill caught eight passes for a total of 110 yards, while Hardman contributed with 58 yards from four passes.

With one forced fumble, no tackles for loss and one sack , the Chiefs got just the defensive help it needed to get the win.

On the losing side of the game, Baker Mayfield of the Browns ended the day with one touchdown, along with 204 yards, one interception, and a 74.60 passer rating.

The rushing game for the Browns was led by Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. For the game, Chubb rushed for 69 yards from carrying the football 13 times. Meanwhile Hunt carried the ball 6 times for a total of 32 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Browns included Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones. Higgins caught five passes for a total of 88 yards, while Peoples-Jones contributed with 23 yards from one pass.

For the game, the Browns defensive effort yielded no forced fumbles, two tackles for loss and one sack. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.
