Powered by 416 yards from Patrick Mahomes, and a total team offensive output of 496 yards, the Kansas City Chiefs blew out the New York Jets in a laughable 35-9 victory, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Chiefs rushing game contributed to this with with 50 yards and zero rushing touchdowns, to support a 416 yards, five touchdowns effort by Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes helped the Chiefs in this victory by attempting 42 passes and completing 31 of them. This led to a final QB production of 416 yards, no interceptions and five touchdowns for the game.
Darrel Williams and Clyde Edwards-Helaire led the rushing game for the Chiefs. Williams rushed for 19 yards from carrying the football three times. Williams was helped by Edwards-Helaire who carried the football six times for a total of 21 yards. In the passing game, Mahomes was most successful throwing the ball to Mecole Hardman and Tyreek Hill. Hardman caught seven passes for a total of 96 yards, while Hill contributed with 98 yards from four passes.
With one forced fumble, two tackles for loss and one sack , the Chiefs got just the defensive help it needed to get the win.
Compared to Mahomes of the Chiefs, Sam Darnold of the Jets threw for 133 yards with zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions, completing 18 of 30 passes, for a 70.60 passer rating.
The rushing game for the Jets was led by Frank Gore and La’Mical Perine. For the game, Gore rushed for 30 yards from carrying the football 10 times. Meanwhile Perine carried the ball 8 times for a total of 27 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Jets included Braxton Berrios and Denzel Mims. Berrios caught eight passes for a total of 34 yards, while Mims contributed with 42 yards from two passes.
Although their team lost the game, the Jets defense ended the game with no sacks, and no tackles for loss, to go along with one forced fumble.
The Chiefs walked away from the game with an improved seasonal record of 1-0. The Jets on the other hand, dropped to 0-1 for the season.
