The Indianapolis Colts cruised past the Detroit Lions in a one-sided 41-21 win, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 in Ford Field in Detroit. They deployed a rushing game that produced 119 yards, two rushing touchdowns, to support a Philip Rivers performance of 262 yards and three touchdowns.
Rivers helped the Colts in this victory by attempting 33 passes and completing 23 of them. This led to a final QB production of 262 yards, no interceptions and three touchdowns for the game.
The Colts deployed a rushing game led by Jordan Wilkins and Jonathan Taylor. For the game, Wilkins carried the ball 20 times and rushed for 89 yards, leading to one touchdown. Taylor supplemented by carrying the ball 11 times for a total of 22 yards. In the passing game, the Colts’ top receivers were Zach Pascal and Marcus Johnson. Pascal caught three passes for a total of 44 yards, while Johnson contributed with 39 yards from two passes.
With two forced fumbles, four tackles for loss and five sacks , the Colts got just the defensive help it needed to get the win.
For the Lions, Matthew Stafford ended the day having completed 24 of 42 passes, leading to 336 yards, one interception and three touchdowns. His performance resulted in a QB rating of 96.90.
The Lions’ rushing game was led by D’Andre Swift and Adrian Peterson. For the game, Swift carried the ball six times, rushed for one yard, and no touchdowns. Peterson supplemented and carried the ball a total of five times for a total of seven yards. Meanwhile Danny Amendola and Marvin Hall were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Lions. Amendola caught three passes from Stafford for a total of 54 yards, while Hall contributed with 113 yards from four passes.
Although their team lost the game, the Lions defense ended the game with two sacks, and four tackles for loss, to go along with one forced fumble.
After this game, the Colts improved to a record of 1-0, while the Lions dropped to a 0-1 record. After the win, the Colts now have a 1-0 record, compared to the Lions who now have 0-1 record.
