Ryan Put Up 371 Yards as the Atlanta Falcons Easily Defeated the Minnesota Vikings 40-23

Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons easily defeated the Minnesota Vikings in a lopsided 40-23 victory, Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 in US Bank Stadium in Minnesota. The Falcons’ win was helped by a rushing game that produced 99 yards and no rushing touchdowns, and by a 371 yards and four touchdowns effort by Ryan.

Ryan finished the game completing 30 of 40 passes, to lead the way for the Falcons. He ended up with an overall QB rating of 136.60, coming from a performance that included 371 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions for the game.

The ground game for the Falcons saw Todd Gurley carrying the football 20 times, and Brian Hill helping with rushing the ball 10 times. The two rushers produced 47 yards and 28 yards respectively in a winning effort. The passing game for the Falcons had Ryan throwing the football to Julio Jones and Russell Gage as his most productive targets. Jones caught eight passes for a net gain of 137 yards. The secondary target (Gage) caught four passes for a net contribution of 65 yards.

Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of one sack , no forced fumbles, eight tackles for loss, and no defensive touchdowns for the Falcons.

Compared to Ryan of the Falcons, Kirk Cousins of the Vikings threw for 343 yards with three touchdowns, and three interceptions, completing 24 of 36 passes, for a 90.40 passer rating.

The rushing game for the Vikings was led by Ameer Abdullah and Alexander Mattison. For the game, Abdullah rushed for seven yards from carrying the football two times. Meanwhile Mattison carried the ball 10 times for a total of 26 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Vikings included Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson. Thielen caught three passes for a total of 51 yards, while Jefferson contributed with 166 yards from nine passes.

Although their team lost the game, the Vikings defense ended the game with two sacks, and four tackles for loss, to go along with two forced fumbles.

With the win, the Falcons leave with a record of 1-0 for the season, while the Vikings record for the season is now 0-1.
