The Bears Narrowly Defeated the Panthers in a Tantalizing 23-16 Win

Nick Foles and the Chicago Bears narrowly defeated the Carolina Panthers in a tantalizing 23-16 victory, Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 in Bank of America Stadium in Carolina. The Bears’ win was helped by a rushing game that produced 63 yards and one rushing touchdown, and by a 198 yards and one touchdown effort by Foles.

Foles helped the Bears in this victory by attempting 39 passes and completing 23 of them. This led to a final QB production of 198 yards, one interception and one touchdown for the game.

David Montgomery and Ryan Nall led the rushing game for the Bears. Montgomery rushed for 58 yards from carrying the football 19 times. Montgomery was helped by Nall who carried the football zero times for a total of no yards. In the passing game, Foles was most successful throwing the ball to Darnell Mooney and Allen Robinson. Mooney caught three passes for a total of 36 yards, while Robinson contributed with 53 yards from five passes.

On the defensive side of the football, the Bears produced one forced fumble, three tackles for loss, four sacks and no defensive touchdowns.

For the Panthers, Teddy Bridgewater ended the day having completed 16 of 29 passes, leading to 216 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns. His performance resulted in a QB rating of 50.40.

The rushing game for the Panthers was led by Trenton Cannon and Mike Davis. For the game, Cannon rushed for 12 yards from carrying the football three times. Meanwhile Davis carried the ball 18 times for a total of 52 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Panthers included Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore. Anderson caught four passes for a total of 77 yards, while Moore contributed with 93 yards from five passes.

For the game, the Panthers defensive effort yielded zero forced fumbles, three tackles for loss and no sacks. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.

After this game, the Bears improved to a record of 1-0, while the Panthers dropped to a 0-1 record. After the win, the Bears now have a 1-0 record, compared to the Panthers who now have 0-1 record.
