The Cleveland Browns Took Care of the Indianapolis Colts 32-23

Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns took care of the Indianapolis Colts in a gritty 32-23 victory, Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 in FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. The Browns’ win was helped by a rushing game that produced 124 yards and no rushing touchdowns, and by a 247 yards and two touchdowns effort by Mayfield.

Mayfield finished the game with two touchdowns, completing 21 of 37 passes. At the end of the day, he finished with 247 yards and two interceptions, and a passer rating of 72.70.

D’Ernest Johnson and Kareem Hunt led the rushing game for the Browns. Johnson rushed for 32 yards from carrying the football eight times. Johnson was helped by Hunt who carried the football 20 times for a total of 72 yards. In the passing game, Mayfield was most successful throwing the ball to Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. Beckham caught five passes for a total of 58 yards, while Landry contributed with 88 yards from four passes.

With no forced fumbles, two tackles for loss and one sack , the Browns got just the defensive help it needed to get the win.

Philip Rivers led the Colts in a losing effort with 243 yards, completing 21 of 33 passes, two interceptions, and no touchdowns, for a QB rating of 60.50.

The Colts’ rushing game was led by Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Taylor. For the game, Hines carried the ball three times, rushed for eight yards, and zero touchdowns. Taylor supplemented and carried the ball a total of 12 times for a total of 57 yards. Meanwhile T.Y. Hilton and Marcus Johnson were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Colts. Hilton caught six passes from Rivers for a total of 69 yards, while Johnson contributed with 53 yards from three passes.

For the game, the Colts defensive effort yielded one forced fumble, no tackles for loss and one sack. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.

The Browns walked away from the game with an improved seasonal record of 1-0. The Colts on the other hand, dropped to 0-1 for the season.
