The Detroit Lions Cruised Past the Jacksonville Jaguars in a One-Sided Victory of 34-16

Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 in TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville was a day of celebration for the Detroit Lions fans, as their team cruised past the Jacksonville Jaguars in a 34-16 victory. The Lions rode a rushing game that produced 180 yards and three rushing touchdowns, to go along with a Matthew Stafford performance of 223 yards, one touchdown.

Stafford contributed to this win by completing 19 of 31 passes, finishing the game with 223 yards, one interception, one touchdown and a QB rating of 80.40.

The ground game for the Lions saw D’Andre Swift carrying the football 14 times, and Adrian Peterson helping with rushing the ball 15 times. The two rushers produced 116 yards and 40 yards respectively in a winning effort. The passing game for the Lions had Stafford throwing the football to Danny Amendola and Kenny Golladay as his most productive targets. Amendola caught two passes for a net gain of 31 yards. The secondary target (Golladay) caught four passes for a net contribution of 105 yards.

Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of one sack , two forced fumbles, three tackles for loss, and zero defensive touchdowns for the Lions.

Compared to Stafford of the Lions, Gardner Minshew II of the Jaguars threw for 243 yards with one touchdown, and one interception, completing 25 of 44 passes, for a 70.60 passer rating.

The rushing game for the Jaguars was led by Dare Ogunbowale and James Robinson. For the game, Ogunbowale rushed for zero yards from carrying the football zero times. Meanwhile Robinson carried the ball 12 times for a total of 29 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Jaguars included D.J. Chark Jr. and Keelan Cole. Chark Jr. caught seven passes for a total of 45 yards, while Cole contributed with 143 yards from six passes.

In their loss, the Jaguars defense contributed with zero forced fumbles and two tackles to go along with no sacks and zero defensive touchdowns. This production from the Jaguars defense was not enough help get a win.

With the win, the Lions leave with a record of 1-0 for the season, while the Jaguars record for the season is now 0-1.
