The Los Angeles Chargers Narrowly Defeated the Las Vegas Raiders in a Nail-Biting Victory of 30-27

Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020 in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas was a day of celebration for the Los Angeles Chargers fans, as their team narrowly defeated the Las Vegas Raiders in a 30-27 victory. The Chargers rode a rushing game that produced 96 yards and two rushing touchdowns, to go along with a Justin Herbert performance of 314 yards, two touchdowns.

Herbert finished the game with two touchdowns, completing 22 of 32 passes. At the end of the day, he finished with 314 yards and zero interceptions, and a passer rating of 121.10.

Kalen Ballage and Austin Ekeler led the rushing game for the Chargers. Ballage rushed for 11 yards from carrying the football eight times. Ballage was helped by Ekeler who carried the football 13 times for a total of 60 yards. In the passing game, Herbert was most successful throwing the ball to Tyron Johnson and Jalen Guyton. Johnson caught three passes for a total of 61 yards, while Guyton contributed with 91 yards from four passes.

On the defensive side of the football, the Chargers produced no forced fumbles, three tackles for loss, one sack and zero defensive touchdowns.

Marcus Mariota led the Raiders in a losing effort with 226 yards, completing 17 of 28 passes, one interception, and one touchdown, for a QB rating of 83.30.

The Raiders’ rushing game was led by Devontae Booker and Josh Jacobs. For the game, Booker carried the ball three times, rushed for 12 yards, and no touchdowns. Jacobs supplemented and carried the ball a total of 26 times for a total of 76 yards. Meanwhile Nelson Agholor and Zay Jones were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Raiders. Agholor caught four passes from Mariota for a total of 49 yards, while Jones contributed with nine yards from one pass.

For the game, the Raiders defensive effort yielded one forced fumble, four tackles for loss and one sack. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.

With the win, the Chargers leave with a record of 5-9 for the season, while the Raiders record for the season now stands at 7-7.
