Tagovailoa ended the game with 145 yards passing, to go along with zero touchdowns, one interception, and completing 20 of 26 passes. This performance led to a 73.40 passer rating for Tagovailoa.
The ground game for the Dolphins saw Salvon Ahmed carrying the football 23 times, and Matt Breida helping with rushing the ball 12 times. The two rushers produced 122 yards and 86 yards respectively in a winning effort. The passing game for the Dolphins had Tagovailoa tossing the football to Lynn Bowden and Isaiah Ford as his most productive targets. Bowden caught six passes for a net gain of 37 yards. The secondary target (Ford) caught three passes for a net contribution of 18 yards.
The Dolphins’ defense contributed to the win with three sacks, three forced fumbles, zero tackles for loss, and scored zero defensive touchdowns.
For the losing team, Cam Newton finished the game completing 17 of 27 passes to lead the way for the Patriots. This performance by Newton led to a QB rating of 86.80, and game stats of 209 yards, no interceptions and zero touchdowns.
The rushing game for the Patriots was led by Sony Michel and James White. For the game, Michel rushed for 74 yards from carrying the football 10 times. Meanwhile White carried the ball 2 times for a total of three yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Patriots included Damiere Byrd and Jakobi Meyers. Byrd caught three passes for a total of 24 yards, while Meyers contributed with 111 yards from seven passes.
In their loss, the Patriots defense contributed with no forced fumbles and two tackles to go along with two sacks and no defensive touchdowns. This production from the Patriots defense was not enough help get a win.
After the win, the Dolphins now have a 9-5 record, compared to the Patriots who now have a 6-8 record.
