The New England Patriots Narrowly Defeated the Baltimore Ravens 23-17

The New England Patriots narrowly defeated the Baltimore Ravens in a thrilling victory of 23-17, Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 in Gillette Stadium in New England. For the win, Cam Newton threw for 118 yards, and one touchdown. The Patriots also relied on a rushing game that produced 173 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Newton ended the game with 118 yards passing, to go along with one touchdown, zero interceptions, and completing 13 of 17 passes. This performance led to a 114.30 passer rating for Newton.

The ground game for the Patriots saw Rex Burkhead carrying the football 6 times, and Damien Harris helping with rushing the ball 22 times. The two rushers produced 31 yards and 121 yards respectively in a winning effort. The passing game for the Patriots had Newton throwing the football to Jakobi Meyers and N’Keal Harry as his most productive targets. Meyers caught five passes for a net gain of 59 yards. The secondary target (Harry) caught zero passes for a net contribution of zero yards.

The Patriots were helped by a defensive effort that resulted in two sacks, and four tackles for loss, to go along with zero forced fumbles, with zero defensive touchdowns.

For the Ravens, Lamar Jackson ended the day having completed 24 of 34 passes, leading to 249 yards, one interception and two touchdowns. His performance resulted in a QB rating of 98.80.

The Ravens’ rushing game was led by J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. For the game, Dobbins carried the ball five times, rushed for 13 yards, and no touchdowns. Edwards supplemented and carried the ball a total of seven times for a total of 42 yards. Meanwhile Devin Duvernay and Willie Snead IV were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Ravens. Duvernay caught three passes from Jackson for a total of 45 yards, while Snead IV contributed with 64 yards from five passes.

Although their team lost the game, the Ravens defense ended the game with one sack, and two tackles for loss, to go along with no forced fumbles.

With the win, the Patriots improve to 4-5 for the season, while the Ravens fall to 6-3.
