The Philadelphia Eagles Outlasted the New York Giants 22-21

The Philadelphia Eagles showed up Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 in Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and outlasted the New York Giants by a nail-biting 22-21 victory. The Eagles deployed a rushing game that produced 96 yards and one rushing touchdown, to go along with a total team offensive output of 442 yards. Quarterback Carson Wentz contributed with 359 yards and two touchdowns for the game.

Wentz helped the Eagles in this victory by attempting 43 passes and completing 25 of them. This led to a final QB production of 359 yards, one interception and two touchdowns for the game.

The ground game for the Eagles saw Boston Scott carrying the football 12 times, and Jason Huntley helping with rushing the ball two times. The two rushers produced 46 yards and 13 yards respectively in a winning effort. The passing game for the Eagles had Wentz throwing the football to John Hightower and Travis Fulgham as his most productive targets. Hightower caught one pass for a net gain of 59 yards. The secondary target (Fulgham) caught five passes for a net contribution of 73 yards.

Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of three sacks , two forced fumbles, zero tackles for loss, and no defensive touchdowns for the Eagles.

In a losing effort for the Giants, Daniel Jones attempted 43 passes and completed 20 of them. This performance resulted in 187 yards, one interception, two touchdowns and a passer rating of 91.90 for the game.

The rushing game for the Giants was led by Dion Lewis and Wayne Gallman Jr. For the game, Lewis rushed for 23 yards from carrying the football three times. Meanwhile Gallman Jr carried the ball 10 times for a total of 34 yards. For the passing game, the top receivers for the Giants included Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate. Shepard caught six passes for a total of 59 yards, while Tate contributed with 39 yards from one pass.

In their loss, the Giants defense contributed with no forced fumbles and three tackles to go along with three sacks and no defensive touchdowns. This production from the Giants defense was not enough help get a win.

With the win, the Eagles leave with a record of 1-0 for the season, while the Giants record for the season is now 0-1.
