The Seattle Seahawks Narrowly Defeated the Minnesota Vikings 27-26

The Seattle Seahawks narrowly defeated the Minnesota Vikings in a tantalizing 27-26 win, Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 in CenturyLink Field in Seattle. They deployed a rushing game that produced 124 yards, one rushing touchdown, to support a Russell Wilson performance of 217 yards and three touchdowns.

Wilson helped the Seahawks in this victory by attempting 32 passes and completing 20 of them. This led to a final QB production of 217 yards, one interception and three touchdowns for the game.

Chris Carson and Travis Homer led the rushing game for the Seahawks. Carson rushed for 52 yards from carrying the football eight times. Carson was helped by Homer who carried the football three times for a total of 14 yards. In the passing game, Wilson was most successful throwing the ball to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Metcalf caught six passes for a total of 93 yards, while Lockett contributed with 44 yards from four passes.

The Seahawks were helped by a defensive effort that resulted in three sacks, and zero tackles for loss, to go along with two forced fumbles, with zero defensive touchdowns.

Compared to Wilson of the Seahawks, Kirk Cousins of the Vikings threw for 249 yards with two touchdowns, and one interception, completing 27 of 39 passes, for a 92.80 passer rating.

The Vikings’ rushing game was led by Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. For the game, Cook carried the ball 17 times, rushed for 65 yards, and one touchdown. Mattison supplemented and carried the ball a total of 20 times for a total of 112 yards. Meanwhile Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the Vikings. Thielen caught nine passes from Cousins for a total of 80 yards, while Jefferson contributed with 23 yards from three passes.

In their loss, the Vikings defense contributed with no forced fumbles and two tackles to go along with four sacks and zero defensive touchdowns. This production from the Vikings defense was not enough help get a win.

With the win, the Seahawks leave with a record of 1-0 for the season, while the Vikings record for the season is now 0-1.
