Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles squeaked by the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling 25-20 victory, Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 in Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. The Eagles’ win was helped by a rushing game that produced 93 yards and one rushing touchdown, and by a 193 yards and one touchdown effort by Wentz.
Wentz finished the game with one touchdown, completing 18 of 28 passes. At the end of the day, he finished with 193 yards and one interception, and a passer rating of 81.40.
Corey Clement and Miles Sanders led the rushing game for the Eagles. Clement rushed for three yards from carrying the football two times. Clement was helped by Sanders who carried the football 13 times for a total of 46 yards. In the passing game, Wentz was most successful throwing the ball to Greg Ward and Travis Fulgham. Ward caught four passes for a total of 38 yards, while Fulgham contributed with 57 yards from two passes.
Contributing to the victory was a defensive line stats of five sacks , one forced fumble, three tackles for loss, and one defensive touchdown for the Eagles.
In a losing effort for the 49ers, Nick Mullens attempted 28 passes and completed 18 of them. This performance resulted in 200 yards, two interceptions, one touchdown and a passer rating of 72.60 for the game.
The 49ers’ rushing game was led by Jeff Wilson Jr. and Jerick McKinnon. For the game, Wilson Jr. carried the ball three times, rushed for six yards, and no touchdowns. McKinnon supplemented and carried the ball a total of 14 times for a total of 54 yards. Meanwhile Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne were the top 2 aerial passing targets for the 49ers. Samuel caught three passes from Mullens for a total of 35 yards, while Bourne contributed with 33 yards from three passes.
For the game, the 49ers defensive effort yielded no forced fumbles, two tackles for loss and three sacks. This was not enough to help their team to a victory.
