Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara recently made a generous donation to a local school in Seattle, Washington. Wilson has had an MVP-like season with the Seahawks in 2020, and he has his eyes set on winning another Super Bowl title.
Wilson has dominated on the field throughout his NFL career, and he continues to dominate off the field. He is a big supporter of the community and wants to help out in any way possible.
Russell Wilson has made a name for himself throughout his NFL career
Wilson entered the league in 2012 when the Seahawks selected him in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft. He was named the starting quarterback for the Seahawks ahead of the regular season. Wilson put together an impressive performance during his rookie year. The former Wisconsin star threw for 3,118 yards with 26 touchdowns and rushed for 489 yards with four touchdowns. As a rookie, he led the Seahawks to an 11-5 record and a trip to the playoffs.
In his first playoff performance, he threw for 187 yards and rushed for 67 yards as the Seahawks defeated the Washington Football Team. Wilson was selected as an alternate for the 2013 Pro Bowl, filling in for Matt Ryan of Atlanta Falcons. The next season, he led the Seahawks to the Super Bowl as they defeated the Denver Broncos and Wilson became the second Black quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
Throughout his career in Seattle, Wilson has never had a losing season as the starting quarterback. He’s only missed the playoffs once throughout his career and he’s established himself as a leader on the field. Wilson can beat you in numerous ways. He has a strong arm and can use his feet when he needs to.

When the 2020 season started, Wilson wasted no time getting off to a hot start. In a win over the Falcons, Wilson went 31-of-35 for 322 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. After his performance against the Falcons, he was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1.
The next week, Wilson put together another impressive performance against the New England Patriots. Wilson threw for 288 yards with five touchdowns as the Seahawks defeated the Patriots 35-30. Early in the season, he set an NFL record for most passing touchdowns through three games with 14. He has made a strong case for the MVP during the 2020 season, and through seven games, the Seahawks have a 6-1 record.

While he’s been off to a terrific season, Wilson is making an impact off the field. According to an article from richmondfreepress.com, Wilson and his wife Ciara contributed about $1.75 million to rebrand an existing charter program known as Cascade Midway Academy. This program is located just south of Seattle. The contribution is being made through their Why Not You Foundation.
Wilson and his wife were contacted by the program for money, and they were gladly willing to support. With their generous donation, the program will change its name to Why Not You Academy. It’s an amazing thing to see professional athletes making an impact in the communities they play in, and Wilson is one athlete who wants to make an impact more than solely on the field.
