Russell Wilson has put forth a tremendous career through his first eight seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson has been the guiding force for the franchise that guided them to constant success. The star quarterback has decided to issue a strong warning to the rest of the NFL ahead of the 2020 season.
Russell Wilson’s tremendous NFL career
Since entering the NFL, Russell Wilson has brought tremendous stability to the Seahawks.
Wilson immediately experienced success from the get-go after earning the starting job before his rookie year. He has helped guide the franchise to the playoffs seven in his first eight seasons that include three NFC West division times, a pair of Super Bowl appearances, and the team’s first championship.
There has been a progressive development in his game as he has become a more significant factor as a passer. That has helped him earn a tremendous strong reputation from his peers as being an elite quarterback in the league possesses not only elite ability at the position but also outstanding leadership skills.
That was further exemplified by being voted No.2 overall in the 2019 season by his peers in the NFL Top 100 list.
With the accolades already to his name that should put him in the Hall of Fame, Wilson has issued a warning for the rest of the league.
Russell Wilson’s stern message to rest of the NFL
Russell Wilson has firmly established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
Wilson is a game-changing talent has become the definition of a franchise cornerstone at his position. However, he wants the rest of the league to know that his best years are ahead and that opposing defenses should be wary of his ability, according to Corbin Smith of SI.com.
“My best years are ahead of me,” Wilson told reporters on a Zoom conference call on Thursday. “I’m the best that I’ve ever been but I feel like I’m only at 70 percent capacity. I feel like I have a whole other 30 [percent] in me… When I step on the field, I want the other team to know they’re in trouble.”
Wilson has already proven so much in his career as one of the game’s best players. His voicing that he still has another level to hit in his game could see even more control within the offense. The Seahawks have progressively given him the reins of the offensive game plan, but that may go up another notch with the team guiding the way more so with his arm.
Beyond that, these comments from Wilson further show the tremendous confidence he has in his ability.
Seahawks’ expectations for 2020 season
The Seahawks are coming off another highly successful campaign that saw them reach the playoffs behind a double-digit win season.
Seattle had their share of injuries in the backfield and the offensive line, but Russell Wilson’s NFL-caliber year helped thrust the franchise into the divisional round of the playoffs. The 2020 season will have its set of unique challenges with the NFC West continuing to improve while the San Francisco 49ers have regained their relevancy in the league.
It’s all the same in Seattle, with Wilson expected to be the driving force and dictator of their Super Bowl hopes. The front office has added some proven talent such as former Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen to the offense while acquiring star safety Jamal Adams to guide their secondary.
The pieces are there for the Seahawks to reach the playoff and possibly vie much further than that. It’s on Wilson’s shoulders to be the difference-maker that can guide them to the Super Bowl out of the daunting NFC.
