Throughout Shaquille O’Neal’s 19-year NBA career, he landed some hefty contracts along the way.

O’Neal made roughly $286.3 million, with approximately $166.5 million coming during his nine seasons with the LA Lakers. The rest is splattered between his stints with the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Boston Celtics.

However, it can be argued that his true financial success came after his playing days as he has become a highly successful businessman. O’Neal has worked out endorsement deals with numerous companies such as IcyHot, Buick, The General, Macy’s, Zales, Arizona Beverage Co, Papa John’s, Epson Printers, and Carnival Cruise.

O’Neal’s work in retirement has helped push his net worth to a reported $400 million. His work as a businessman has helped continue to feed him significant income over the last several years.

The Hall of Famer has found tremendous success through a simple question that he lives by for his endorsement deals.

Over the years, Shaquille O’Neal has become the gold standard for business decisions that professional athletes aim to achieve.

Since stepping into NBA retirement, O’Neal has taken off into greater heights behind his endorsement deals and investments. During an interview on HBO’s Real Sports in March 2018, he voiced that he won’t promote a product unless he likes it or uses it himself.

“Yes, because if I am going to sell to the people, I have to be honest to the people,” O’Neal said.

It’s a straightforward rule he lives by, but it has helped him honestly promote products. His desire to give the consumer his honest feelings and complete commitment to the product gives it a greater sense of connection and realism.

That alone has allowed him to work with various companies from different industries ranging from Winchell to Ring Home security systems to sleep apnea masks. These are all products that O’Neal would or has used in his own life.

It also doesn’t hurt that his bubbly and fun-loving personality has helped make him a great promoter in commercial spots. O’Neal has become a marketing department’s dream to work with to promote any product.

Shaquille O’Neal’s portfolio continues to grow as time rolls on by, as his fingerprints in the business industries become grander.

O’Neal is always looking to expand his reach with long-term investments that will benefit him greatly. Following the entire disastrous situation with Papa John’s, he latched on as a part-owner of the company.

The 49-year-old voiced back in February that he plans to invest in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, an MMA sports league. He was recently announced as a brand ambassador for Novex, which provides men’s performance products such as GF-9, Testrovax, and Oxydrene.

He is expected to appear in various marketing campaigns for the company across TV, e-commerce, in-store, and social media through this year.

The journey clearly will never stop for O’Neal as he builds his ever-growing empire of business deals.
