Skip Bayless Ruthlessly Blamed Aaron Rodgers for Davante Adams Leaving

The arms race in the AFC West has been wild this offseason, and the Las Vegas Raiders are the latest team to jump in. They poached superstar wide receiver Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers, putting themselves in a much better position to contend with their divisional foes. Of course, all eyes promptly turned toward Aaron Rodgers after the trade was completed, as most people didn’t expect him to return to Green Bay in the first place if Adams wasn’t going to be there as well.

According to Skip Bayless, Rodgers is to blame for Adams being shipped out to Las Vegas.

There’s still a lot of confusion about how this Adams trade came to fruition. Some outlets are reporting the Packers were unwilling to match the Raiders’ contract offer to Adams. Others are reporting that both teams were offering similar money, but Adams was simply looking for a fresh start this offseason.

Well, popular media pundit Skip Bayless has his own theory as to why Adams pushed his way out of Green Bay. According to Bayless, Adams simply “had enough” of Rodgers.

Bayless is a hot take machine when it comes to the. NFL. However, for the sake of argument, it’s worth fleshing out this idea and seeing if there’s any truth to said logic.

Common sense suggests Adams’ best shot at winning a Super Bowl in 2022 would be with the Green Bay Packers. They’ve been a consistent playoff threat the past several seasons, and his on-field rapport with Rodgers is one of the best in the NFL.

With that said, Rodgers isn’t exactly known for his postseason success.

The reigning MVP is arguably the best regular-season performer in football history. However, he’s only been to one Super Bowl, and that was way back in 2010 — over a decade ago.

It’s highly possible Adams simply didn’t like the Packers’ chances of contending in 2022, especially with Tom Brady returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The AFC is a gauntlet of elite quarterbacks at the moment. However, the Raiders have a strong foundation in Derek Carr, Adams, Hunter Renfroe, Darren Waller, and Chandler Jones.

Aaron Rodgers’ greed likely cost him his star WR

Possible winning reasons aside, it was, in all honesty, Aaron Rodgers’ greed that likely cost him his superstar wide receiver this offseason. The salary cap is essentially a myth in the NFL these days. However, owners do have a limit on how much they’re willing to spend on their roster.

With Rodgers becoming the highest-paid QB in NFL history at $50 million per season, asking Green Bay also to accommodate a $28 million salary for Adams is quite the demand. Rodgers needed to take a sizable pay cut if he wanted Adams to stay with the Packers as the highest-paid WR in the league.

We’ll never know the true reason as to why Adams pushed for a trade out of Green Bay. However, what we do know is that the Packers are hurting now. Their roster is extremely bare outside of one historically rich quarterback.
