Stephen A. Smith Rips Houston Texans and Accuses Team of Using a ‘Black Man as a Stooge’

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is very upset with the Houston Texans amid the Deshaun Watson trade drama. The media personality went off on the Houston organization on Friday’s episode of First Take after Texans head coach David Culley reaffirmed that the team isn’t trading Watson.

Stephen A. Smith has never been one to mince words and shy away from saying controversial statements. That trend continued on Friday when he destroyed the Texans.

David Culley is a head coach for the first time in the NFL, and he’s walked into a burning building in Houston since Deshaun Watson wants out and J.J. Watt was released and signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

On Friday’s edition of First Take, Stephen A. Smith talked about why he has a problem with the Texans having Culley answer questions about Watson’s status with the team. In typical Stephen A. fashion, the ESPN star didn’t hold back.

“Let me say this for the record: I have a problem and I’m going to accuse the Houston Texans on national television for using a Black man as a stooge,” Smith said. “David Culley is not at fault here. This man busted his tail and worked hard and waited 27 years to become a head coach in the national football league. If you’re the McNair’s, if it’s Cal McNair, you come the hell on camera and speak. It’s your team. You’re the CEO. It’s your team. Where are you at? The new GM, (Nick) Caserio, you come out there and you speak.

“To have this coach speaking about Deshaun Watson, why is he talking to the media right now? What purpose does it serve? He just got there…You got a Black man that got a job for the first time as a head coach after 27 years and he’s the one you have speaking? It’s embarrassing.”

Stephen A. Smith concluded his segment by calling out Cal McNair and telling him to speak to the media about the Deshaun Watson trade rumors. Stephen A. isn’t pleased that the Texans are making David Culley do all the talking when he’s a first-time head coach in the NFL.

The Texans need to trade Deshaun Watson and end this fiasco

Deshaun Watson won’t change his mind about wanting out of Houston. The Texans need to accept that and trade the superstar QB to move forward as a franchise and end this fiasco.

It’s understandable, though, why the Texans want Watson to stay. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and will only get better with age. Watson threw for 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2020 while completing 70.2% of his passes. The three-time Pro Bowler led the NFL in passing yards.

Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract, so the Texans can’t trade him to a team he doesn’t want to play for. Thus far, the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets have been mentioned as two teams Watson would waive his no-trade clause for.

You have to feel for a guy like David Culley. He’s finally a head coach in the NFL for the first time and has to deal with Deshaun Watson wanting out.

Can Houston get the second pick in the 2021 draft and Sam Darnold for Deshaun Watson?

The Jets have the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. They also have a young quarterback in Sam Darnold.

Can Houston acquire the second pick and Darnold from New York for Deshaun Watson? Only time will tell.

Everyone in the NFL is curious to see who gets traded first between Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson, two quarterbacks who aren’t on the same page with their current team.
