When Curry entered the league, some did not think that he had what it took to be successful in the NBA because of his size. Well, Curry proved those doubters wrong. In 2014 he made his first All-Star team, and that season he averaged 24 points, 8.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. Curry also earned All-NBA second-team honors that season. The next season, Curry continued to have success as he led the Golden State Warriors to the 2015 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Warriors defeated the Cavaliers, and Curry won the first NBA title of his career. Curry was emerging as one of the top players in the league, and he was playing for the best team in the league at the time. The year that Curry won his first NBA title, he also won his first NBA MVP award. Curry won the MVP award for the second consecutive year in 2016 as he continued to take his game to the next level.
He went on to win two more titles in 2017 and 2018 with the Warriors and now has three NBA titles under his belt. Curry is the face of the Warriors franchise and he will most likely end his career playing with the Warriors. At 32, Curry has a lot more time in the league, and he will continue to play at a high level.
Jamal Murray believes Curry is the hardest player to guard
Murray had a season to remember in 2020 with the Denver Nuggets. The young point guard had an impressive performance in the NBA bubble, and he continued to play at a high level throughout the playoffs. With Murray’s help, the Nuggets advanced to the Western Conference Finals, ultimately losing to the LA Lakers. Murray averaged 26.5 points during the playoffs, and he let the NBA know that he’s a player to watch out for in the future.
The young NBA guard has had his fair share of battles against the elite guards in the NBA. In an interview on YouTube, Murray was asked who’s the toughest player he’s had to guard. “Steph is really hard to guard,” Murray said. “One, because of his shot. Two, because you don’t know what he’s gonna do. You don’t know if he’s just gonna pull it, you don’t know if he’s just gonna end up going by you, (or) if he’s gonna cross you over six times and then shoot and look away. You have absolutely no clue what he’s gonna do.” As Murray mentioned, Curry can shoot from long range or drive to the hole and finish through contact.
Curry changed the game during his career
Before Curry entered the league, you didn’t see players taking shots five feet behind the 3-point line. But when Curry entered the league, all that changed. His range is unlimited, and he can take a shot as soon as he crosses half-court, and there’s a good chance he will make that shot. That’s his game. Whether he’s pulling up off the dribble or running off screens, Curry is a threat behind the 3-point line.
Now you’re starting to see other players shot from deep, just like Curry, and it’s not just the guards. It’s the big men too. Curry has certainly impacted the game in a big way, and throughout his career, he will continue to have success on the court. He will be a name that people talk about well after he retires.
