The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the most successful baseball teams in the past decade. They have also been pretty successful ever since moving to California from Brooklyn in 1958. Having the amount of success they have had, in addition to being in Hollywood, has made them one of the most valuable teams in the entire MLB.
The Dodgers have dominated ever since moving to Los Angeles
Ever since moving to California, the Los Angeles Dodgers have 5,350 wins compared to 4,538 losses. They have also won five World Series titles and 11 National League pennants. They have had some really good teams too as the Dodgers have won over 100 games in a season four times since moving to LA.
Additionally, in the past decade, the Dodgers have been extremely successful. Even though they have not won a World Series during that time span, the Dodgers went to back-to-back World Series in 2017 and 2018. They also won 106 games in 2019 and 104 in 2017. Additionally, they went to the NLCS in 2013 and 2016.
The Dodgers have also had some legendary players, especially at pitcher. Clayton Kershaw is one of the greatest pitchers of all-time as he has won three Cy Young awards. He also won the 2014 NL MVP. Don Drysdale is a Hall of Fame pitcher as he won one Cy Young and three World Series titles. Sandy Koufax is also one of the greatest pitchers of all-time as he is in the Hall of Fame, won three Cy Young awards, three World Series titles, and one NL MVP. Don Sutton is also a Hall of Fame pitcher as he was a four-time All-Star and Orel Hershiser was also great on the mound. He won one Cy Young, one World Series title, and one World Series MVP.
When you talk about great baseball organizations, the Los Angeles Dodgers have to be in the conversation.
The second-most-valuable team in the MLB
Forbes released a list of each MLB team’s value this week and the Los Angeles Dodgers are the second-most-valuable team in the entire league. They are currently worth $3.4 billion. That is also up 3% from last year.
Who are some of the teams they beat out? The Dodgers beat out some large-market organizations. Right behind the Dodgers on this list are the Boston Red Sox ($3.3 billion), Chicago Cubs ($3.2 billion), San Francisco Giants ($3.1 billion), New York Mets ($2.4 billion), St. Louis Cardinals ($2.2 billion), and Philadelphia Phillies ($2 billion).
Most teams increased in value too. The only teams that decreased in value are the Miami Marlins and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Also, the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, and Arizona Diamondbacks all stayed the same.
So, who is the most valuable team? You can probably guess this one pretty easily.
The Dodgers only trail the New York Yankees
The New York Yankees are the most valuable team in the MLB. They are worth $5 billion which is actually a 9% increase from last year. The Yankees are also the second-most-valuable franchise in all of sports. They are only behind the Dallas Cowboys who are worth $5.5 billion, according to Forbes.
This should come as no surprise to anyone who knows anything about sports. New York City is probably the largest market in America and maybe even in the entire world. The Yankees have had a lot of success too. They have won 40 American League Pennants and have won 27 World Series titles. The Yankees also have a crazy record of 9,644-7,081 from 1913 through 2019.
It pays to be successful. It also pays to be located in a large market. Nothing proves these two statements more than the value of the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.
