The No. 1 Landing Spot If Tom Brady Actually Leaves the Patriots

The 2019 campaign has come to a close, with the attention shifting over to the upcoming offseason with the free agency period just over a month away. That has put star quarterback Tom Brady as he’s set to hit the free-agent market for the first time in his illustrious career. That has been fueled with talk that he could entertain the thought of leaving the New England Patriots. With that in mind, there is one team that is gaining traction as being the top spot if Brady were to leave the Patriots in the coming weeks.

Tom Brady’s future in New England uncertain

Following a disappointing close to their 2019 season with the divisional-round loss to the Tennessee Titans, it has put Brady’s future with the Patriots front and center.

The 42-year-old has expressed that he has no clarity on whether he will return with the team beyond the 2019 campaign. He has also stated that he will explore his options in free agency that could see several teams emerge as landing spots.

There is no certainty at this point whether he’s using it as a ploy to force the Patriots’ hand to make a strong push to sign him to the type of deal he wants, but it does shake things up a bit. Brady’s future is solely in his hands as New England cannot prevent him from entering free agency as his current contract as a clause that allows him to test the mark without the possibility of the franchise tag being used.

All of that has put into play a strong possibility that he could don another uniform for the first time his career. That has also paved the way to one team garnering traction as a landing spot.

Raiders placed as top betting landing spot for Tom Brady

The last few weeks have seen various rumors float around about potential destinations for Brady if he’s serious about the possibility of leaving the Patriots.

There are a few teams that have already begun put their names in the mix to pursue the future Hall of Famer. With that in mind, Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News is reporting that has released their early odds for Brady will play next if he chooses to leave the Patriots, with the Raiders taking the top spot.

Las Vegas has continued to stay relevant in the discussion as it began with Brady speaking to team owner Mark Davis for 20 minutes during a recent UFC event last month. That was followed by reports that Brady is buying property in the city.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are also expected to make a strong push to sign Brady if he becomes a free agent. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts have been the discussion as they both have a need at the quarterback position.

Lastly, the Dallas Cowboys are going into the offseason where Dak Prescott could hit the free-agent market, but the chatter is that they are leaning towards using the franchise tag on him. However, if Brady is interested in Dallas, things could change drastically there. More than that, it’s clear that he will have his options available to him.

Will Tom Brady leave the Patriots?

At this point, it’s quite hard to honestly believe that Brady will depart from the only team that he has ever played for in his career. It just feels like a strange idea to think that he would suit up for another franchise.

It’s also the first time that he will be able to hit the free-agent market where he can fully explore his options. There may not be another chance for him to do that in his career. That alone has pushed forward reports that the Patriots are willing to pay him an annual salary of $30 million to retain him, which is roughly $7 million more than they ever have.

All of this sets up what should be a highly intriguing offseason for Brady as he decides where he will play the next chapter of his career.
