The Tampa Bay Rays Shocked the Baseball World And Took a Step Toward Making History

The Tampa Bay Rays are a series away from playing in their second World Series in franchise history. Tampa Bay has had an impressive postseason during the 2020 Playoffs, and they are playing their best baseball at the right time.

The only team standing in their way of advancing to the World Series is the Houston Astros.

The 2008 season was a special one for Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay finished the regular season with a 97-65 record and finished first in the AL East. Tampa Bay was led by catcher Dioner Navarro who had a .295 batting average through 120 games. Carlos Pena led the team in home runs with 31, and Evan Longoria was second on the team with 27. Tampa Bay also had an impressive staff. All five starters finished the season with winning records as Edwin Jackson, and James Shields led the way with 14 wins.

Going into the playoffs, Tampa Bay took on the Chicago White Sox in the AL Division Series. Tampa Bay won the first two games of the series, scoring a total of 12 runs in the two games while giving up 6. The series ended in four games, with Tampa Bay winning 3-1. In the next round, Tampa took on the Boston Red Sox in the AL Championship Series, which was an exciting one. Both teams went back and forth throughout the series, and Tampa Bay eventually came out on top, winning the series 4-3.

Tampa Bay advanced to their first World Series in franchise history and took on the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies won the series 4-1 as Tampa Bay gave all they had throughout the series. Three out of the five games were decided by one run. Tampa Bay made sure not to give up throughout the series, and at the end, the Phillies prevailed. That season was one to remember for Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay Rays impressive 2020 season

During the 2020 season, Tampa Bay looked to return to the postseason after losing to the Houston Astros in the 2019 ALDS. This year’s Tampa Bay team has a nice mix of young and veteran players. Tampa Bay finished the regular season with a 40-20 record and a first-place finish in the AL East. Going into the playoffs, Tampa Bay was the No. 1 seed. During the Wild Card Series, Tampa Bay defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0 and then beat the New York Yankees 3-2 in the ALDS.

When Tampa Bay defeated the Yankees, that was an impressive win because the Yankees played some of their best baseball all year in the playoffs. But that did not stop Tampa Bay from getting the upper hand on the Yankees and advancing to the ALCS. In the ALCS, Tampa Bay is going up against the Astros, who defeated them in last year’s ALDS.

Tampa Bay has a shot at history this season

Tampa Bay has yet to win a World Series. That could change this year. They have been one of the hottest teams so far in the playoffs, and they are playing really well at the right time. Tampa Bay currently has a 2-0 series lead over the Astros and are two wins away from advancing to the World Series.

They know that Houston is not going to lie down easily and that it’s going to be tough to win two more games. But Tampa Bay certainly has the talent to do so, and they could possibly play in their second World Series in franchise history pretty soon.
