Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski have won four Super Bowls together. The first three came on the New England Patriots, while the latest one was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
When it’s all said and done, Brady and Gronkowski will go down as one of the best duos in NFL history. Their relationship off the field, though, may be stronger than the one they share on the turf, which is why the two future Hall of Famers shared a heartwarming and comical moment after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55.
Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski connected on two touchdowns in Super Bowl 55
Tom Brady threw three touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl win over the Chiefs. Two of them were to Rob Gronkowski.
The first Brady-Gronk TD was an eight-yard score to put the Buccaneers up 7-3 in the first quarter. The second one came in the second quarter. Brady hit Gronkowski from 17 yards out. It was a perfect pass from Brady, who reminded Patrick Mahomes who the real GOAT is.
After Brady signed with the Buccaneers, he convinced Gronkowski to come out of retirement and join him in Tampa Bay. The Bucs acquired Gronkowski and a 2020 seventh-round pick from the Patriots for a 2020 fourth-round pick on April 22, 2020.
Brady and Gronkowski connected on seven touchdowns during the 2020 regular season, but they saved their best for the Super Bowl. Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski: “Two tuddies!”
As expected, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski were in a joyous mood after defeating the Chiefs. The greatest quarterback in NFL history went over to hug his favorite tight end, and the two embraced while sharing a nice laugh.
The part where Brady and Gronkowski laugh about their two touchdowns is priceless. Many NFL pundits thought the two former Patriots stars were washed and wouldn’t play in meaningful games again. As they have done throughout their careers, Brady and Gronk silenced their haters with their stellar play on the football field.
Both Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski will be back next season. It’s going to be fascinating to see if they can lead the Buccaneers to another Super Bowl trophy.
Patriots fans still love their old heroes
Super Bowl 55 generated a 57.6 television rating in Boston, higher than Tampa Bay, where the rating was 52.3, according to John Ourand of Sports Business Daily.
The game was in Tampa Bay, but these numbers show that Patriots fans still love Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. The Patriots’ official Twitter account congratulated Brady and Gronk for their Super Bowl 55 win as well.
Incredibly, Brady won a Super Bowl in his first season without Bill Belichick, while the Patriots missed the playoffs in their first campaign of the post-Brady era.
