Tom Brady leads Buccaneers to Super Bowl 55
For the first time in Tom Brady‘s illustrious career, he chose to play for another franchise outside the New England Patriots.
His arrival to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put forth some tremendously high expectations for the franchise in 2020. There were expected adjustment bumps along the way, but Brady and Tampa Bay worked through them.
The 43-year-old showed no reason to doubt his performance as he strung together an awe-inspiring 21st NFL season. Brady finished third in the league with 4,633 passing yards, tied for second with 40 touchdown passes, and ninth with a 102.2 passer rating.
The star quarterback is the only player in NFL history to throw at least 40 touchdown passes in a season in both conferences. According to CBS Sports, his passing yards and passing touchdowns broke his previous league records for most by a player age 40 or older.
The Buccaneers turned it up a notch in the playoffs with a deep run, rattling off three straight road wins to earn a trip to Super Bowl 55. Before Brady takes on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, he voiced one final poignant message.

“In this journey, there is no final destination,” Brady said in the video. “There is only the next one. In the pursuit of perfection, the only thing that counts is the journey itself, the pursuit itself and those who give their lives to it. This moment and the focus required to seize it. This fight and the commitment required to face it.
“Because there is no such thing as perfect, there is only the relentless pursuit of perfection. That is our cause. That is what makes us a team. And that is why we’re still here. So, once more into the fray to live and die on this day.”
Brady has an opportunity to add to his legacy to create even greater separation for him in the GOAT conversation. The 43-year-old continues to prove to be an ageless wonder, but there is no certainty he will return to another Super Bowl.
