Tom Brady Finally Reveals How He Truly Feels About Jimmy Garoppolo
Through his first few years in the league, Jimmy Garoppolo sat in as the primary backup to Tom Brady with the New England Patriots. Garoppolo got the chance to spread his wings a bit with the San Francisco 49ers as he took full advantage of that opportunity. He has helped put the franchise in a promising position to possibly earn their first Super Bowl win in over two decades behind their talented roster. With all that in mind, Brady has chimed in on his thoughts about his former teammate.
Jimmy Garoppolo’s time with Patriots behind Tom Brady
The Patriots stirred the pot a bit in New England after taking Garoppolo with the 62nd overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. That put him in the position of being the primary backup to Brady, who already well into his 30s.
However, it didn’t change the standing at the position as the former 199th overall pick played a bigger chip on his shoulder from that point on that saw the team win two out of the next three Super Bowls with Garoppolo in tow. As expected, he didn’t receive much playing time behind Brady as from the first four games of the 2016 season due to a four-game suspension in correlation to the deflate-gate scandal.
Garoppolo played in the first two games of that year as he had four touchdown passes to zero interceptions and a passer rating above 105 in each contest. His time in New England came to an abrupt end in 2017 season as he was moved in the hours ahead of the trade deadline to the 49ers in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2018 draft.

Jimmy Garoppolo in ideal situation with 49ers
There is no telling how the Patriots would have handled the transition from Brady to Garoppolo, but it was a move that was clearly in the books for Bill Belichick. Instead, he’s in a situation that couldn’t be any better for him as he ‘s playing with arguably the best team in the league.
The 49ers possess the best overall defense that is balanced on the other side of the ball with a strong running game while Garoppolo has been a significant factor with his arm at times. There is certainly some room for improvement passing the ball, but he’s in a spot where he has the chance to compete at the highest level.
Beyond being just one win away from reaching the Super Bowl, Garoppolo has a bright future ahead of him in San Francisco that could see him experience much of the success that his former teammate had in New England.
