Tom Brady‘s long-running history with the Philadelphia Eagles goes back quite some time. He was the man under center for the New England Patriots during Super Bowl 39 when the Patriots knocked off the Andy Reid-led Eagles.
The game was engulfed by heavy controversy as reports surfaced claiming the Patriots cheated to secure the win. The whole ordeal was nicknamed “Spy-Gate,” as some claimed the Patriots secretly recorded the Eagles’ practices.
Whether Brady was attached to such cheating or not, Philadelphia didn’t care. Most Eagles fans grew to hate the long-time Patriots quarterback, a hatred that only further developed when the two sides met again during Super Bowl 52. The Eagles came out on top this time, giving Philly fans something to mock Brady about.
Tom Brady destroyed the Eagles during Wild Card Weekend
The days of Brady being the big bad guy in New England are long gone. However, that didn’t stop Eagles fans from endlessly chirping him ahead of the Eagles-Buccaneers playoff game this past weekend. Philly fans were again hoping their team could pull off the upset against the greatest quarterback of all time.
Unfortunately for the Eagles and all their fans, a repeat of Super Bowl 52 did not play out. The Buccaneers absolutely trashed the Eagles, beating them by a score of 31-15.
The final scoreline makes it appear closer than it actually was, as well. Brady and the Buccaneers offense jumped out to a 31-0 lead before Jalen Hurts and the Eagles could muster up a single point. It was complete domination by Tampa Bay from top to bottom.
Brady, in particular, was his usual impressive self. He finished the game 29-for-37 with 271 passing yards and two touchdowns. Even without top receivers Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown (who is no longer on the Bucs’ roster), Brady had zero issues picking apart the Philly defense. It looked like he could’ve thrown for 400-plus yards if the Buccaneers didn’t start running out the clock late.
Tom Brady trolled Eagles fans after the win
One of the biggest Brady blunders that Eagles fans were bringing up before kickoff was his infamous dropped pass during Super Bowl 52. Brady himself has admitted to still being upset about the play, especially considering Nick Foles’ success catching a touchdown pass later in the same game.
Well, after the big win this past Sunday, Brady took to social media to get some long-overdue revenge on Eagles fans. He posted a video with the Meek Mill song “Dreams and Nightmares” playing in the background — the song the Eagles entered Super Bowl 52 to.
Brady also posted a video to his TikTok “intercepting” Jalen Hurts’ final pass of the game. Thus, proving that he can, in fact, catch.
The Buccaneers host the Rams this weekend
All fun and games aside, Brady and the Buccaneers have a more challenging task in front of them. They face the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round, a team coming off their own respective blowout win.
This game will likely require a far more focused effort from Brady and company. The Rams are a much tougher caliber of opponent than the Eagles.
