Andy Roddick Believes Emma Raducanu Has Found Ideal Solution

The British tennis star has endured a difficult spell in the sport in recent years, failing to live up to her 2021  US Open triumph.

Raducanu burst onto the scene during this tournament, becoming the youngest Brit to win a major tournament and did so as a qualifier.

Since then, the youngster has tried to emulate this success and added a variety of coaches to her team, each failing to guide her to victory.

She has also been dealing with a multitude of injuries and this has played a major part in her continued drop-off down the rankings.

Raducanu began 2025 with a third round appearance at the Australian Open before being eliminated from the opening round in the next couple of tournaments

These poor performances meant that many people were not expecting much from Raducanu at the Miami Open, however, the British star silenced a lot of critics.

Raducanu reached the quarter-finals before losing to Jessica Pegula and this came after reconnecting with Mark Petchey who was in her corner for the early stages of Raducanu’s career.

Petchey is a former player and is not a signed member to Raducanu’s team, however, Andy Roddick believes the former British women’s number one should bring Petchey in full-time to offer a solution.

He said: “They had great results. She looked great. She looked like a top 10 player in Miami. I love that fit. She looked relaxed, she looked very comfortable. I love Mark Petchey, I think he has a great tennis brain.”

The 22-years-old currently sits 47th in the WTA rankings and will be hoping to put in another strong performance in Spain as she is set to compete at the 1000 Madrid Open.
