Chisnall Nine-Darter

Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall struck a nine-darter in the second round of Players Championship 15 against Darius Labanauskas in Hildesheim on Monday afternoon.

Luke Woodhouse and Dave Chisnall struck perfect legs of darts in Hildesheim at Players Championship 15 on Monday afternoon, with both players registering nine-dart legs in their respective second round fixtures.

Woodhouse was the first to hit a nine in Lower Saxony, achieving the feat during a 6-4 defeat against Martijn Dragt. In his first round fixture, ‘Woody’ overcame Adam Paxton with a 6-2 victory.

As for ‘Chizzy’, he beat Berry van Peer 6-3 in the first round before hitting a nine-darter on the way to a thumping 6-1 win over Darius Labanauskas, averaging a mightily impressive 108.16 on his way to the triumph.

The 44-year-old went on to beat Scotsman Willie Borland 6-1 in the last 32, before beating ‘The Rockstar’ Joe Cullen 6-2 to book his place in the quarter-finals, where he faced reigning World Grand Prix winner Mike De Decker.

Chisnall bested ‘The Real Deal’ 6-2, averaging 104.28 to the Belgian’s 88.79, throwing four 180s and producing one ton-plus checkout, and followed that up with a narrow 7-6 win over Danny Noppert in the semi-final.

Unfortunately for ‘Chizzy’, the final was seemingly a step too far. Facing off against Krzysztof Ratajski, who beat the likes of Dylan Slevin, Jim Long, Ross Smith and Scott Williams on his way to the final, the Englishman suffered an 8-4 defeat.

With the win, the Pole pockets the £15,000 top prize in north-central Germany and moves him into the provisional qualification places for July’s Betfred World Matchplay at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
