Haydock Park will have everything crossed the weather plays ball this Saturday as this fixture has been called off for the last two seasons. The prospects look good though and the star attraction will be Royale Pagaille, who is an expected Peter Marsh Chase runner and also the winner of the last two renewals.

Royale Pagaille Returns To Beloved Haydock In Search Of Sixth Course Win

The term ‘horses for courses’ has never been so apt for the Venetia Williams-trained ROYALE PAGAILLE.

This Rich Ricci-owned 11 year-old has won at the Lancashire venue five times and the only other time he’s raced at Haydock he came second.

In fact, his only other career wins (has won 7 times) came at Kempton and in Pau in France back in 2018. Meaning 71% of his victories have been at Haydock Park.

He was last seen at the course winning the Betfair Chase for a second time – at (you guessed it) Haydock Park when seeing off the useful Grey Dawning by two lengths (watch below).

His only run in betwen his two Betfair Chase wins came when falling in the Cotswold Chase at on Trials Day at Cheltenham last January.

Royalle Pagaille also holds an entry for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March – a race he was sixth in back in 2023 & 2021 and fifth in 2022. He is expected to head there after running on Saturday.

This Haydock lover has also won the last two runnings of Saturday’s Peter Marsh Chase – which came in 2021 and 2022 with the last two fixture off due to the weather (watch below).
