PSG Come From Behind To End Aston Villa’s Paris Party With 3-1 Win

Although Aston Villa travelled to Paris for their Champions League quarter-final tie with PSG in decent form, the best UK football betting sites still favoured the French outfit to do a job on Unai Emery’s side.

The last time Villa lost was in February at Crystal Palace, but Wednesday night’s task was a big ask for the in-form Villans. After all, PSG did knock out Liverpool in the last round and have arguably looked like the best team in Europe so far this season.

That being said, it was the visitors who struck first to send the away end into raptures as Villa hit the front through Morgan Rogers. A swift counter attack started with John McGinn winning possession, before the ball eventually fell to Youri Tielemans who calmly passed across goal for Rogers to break the deadlock.

The Villa opener was firmly against the run of play, and their lead didn’t last long with the hosts drawing level just five minutes later and five minutes before the break. French wonder kid and future star Desire Doue struck from distance with his right foot, curling a sublime effort into the top corner from outside the area.

Although it was a first half controlled by the home side, Unai Emery’s men went in at the break on level pegging.

The game hung firmly in the balance as the second half got underway, with the best UK betting apps favouring a home win over a draw ever so slightly.

It was clear to see that the second half was going to be another dominant display from PSG, who were looking to make home advantage count.

They added a second goal and took the lead for the first time just four minutes after the interval, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia producing his own bit of individual brilliance.

The Georgian superstar picked the ball up near the halfway line before bearing down on goal, beating his man with some lovely skill before rifling an unstoppable left-footed strike into the roof of the net from a relatively tight angle.

From there it was all PSG, with Villa doing incredibly well not to concede again on more than one occasion right up until the 92nd minute. Nuno Mendes put the icing on the cake with a third goal for the hosts to wrap up victory on the night.

Despite their dominance, there is still hope for Villa as the French champions carry just a one goal advantage into their second leg at Villa Park next Tuesday.

It remains all to play for in this Champions League quarter-final tie with PSG leading 3-1 heading into next week’s second leg.
