Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has withdrawn, and Leeds United youngster Charlie Crew has been recalled in the latest Wales squad update as Craig Bellamy prepares to take on Turkey and Montenegro in the Nations League. The Football Association of Wales have released their latest squad update ahead of September’s Nations League matches against Turkey and Montenegro, confirming that Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has withdrawn through injury. Matondo was forced off with a hamstring injury in the first half of the Gers’ 3-0 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday and is currently being assessed by the club’s medical staff. He becomes the second player to withdraw from Craig Bellamy’s maiden Dragons squad, with Leeds United winger Daniel James also being ruled out due to a hamstring issue. There are also concerns over the fitness of Liam Cullen, who missed out on Swansea’s trip to West Brom at the weekend with an ankle injury, however he has been pictured in Wales training doing some individual work. Called up into Bellamy’s squad amid the aforementioned injury issues are Leeds’ Charlie Crew and Cardiff’s Rubin Colwill, who have both been promoted from Matty Jones’ Under-21 side. Despite not yet making his senior debut at club level, Crew made his senior Wales bow in a friendly against Gibraltar in June. Colwill, meanwhile, has nine caps and one goal for Wales and was part of the 2022 World Cup squad that travelled to Qatar, coming on as a late substitute in the third group game against England.
