Bayern Munich have confirmed that England captain Harry Kane has suffered a calf hematoma after aggravating an injury during Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Celtic.
England captain Harry Kane is set for a period on the sidelines after suffering a calf hematoma during Bayern Munich’s Champions League stalemate against Celtic at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old was a doubt heading into the match, already suffering with a knock to his calf, and after being forcibly withdrawn at the break, Bayern have since confirmed that his injury has been aggravated.
Bayern wrote in a statement: “Harry Kane has to cut back over the coming days. The FC Bayern striker already had a knock to his calf before the Champions League match against Celtic on Tuesday night, which has led to hematoma.
“He had to come off at half-time of the 1-1 draw with the Scottish champions.”
Harry Kane has to cut back on training over the coming days due to injury.
Get well soon, Harry!

Could Harry Kane Miss Out On Thomas Tuchel’s First England Camp?
At this point, the only indication over the length of time that Kane has been ruled out for comes from Bayern’s statement, as they have confirmed that he ‘has to cut back on training over the coming days’.
This isn’t to say that his spell on the sidelines won’t be a lengthy one however. A quick Google search reveals that a calf hematoma usually heals on its own but can take anywhere from a few days to a few months, depending on its size.
It remains unclear how severe or how large Kane’s hematoma is and whether he’ll be available for Bayern’s crucial Bundesliga clash against third-place Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.
If the former Tottenham man’s injury is a minor one, he could return in time for Frankfurt’s visit on Sunday or the trip to Stuttgart the following Friday, but if it’s a more serious one, he could be in doubt for England duty next month.
The Three Lions face off against Albania and Latvia in their 2026 World Cup qualifying openers in what will be new head coach Thomas Tuchel’s first camp, and the German will be desperate to have his captain available.
Tuchel has already worked with Kane in the past, as he was in charge of Bayern when they signed him from Spurs in 2023. Since his move, he has totalled 73 goals in 76 appearances for the Bavarians, earning him the Bundesliga Golden Boot last term, and he’s on track to win it again this season as he leads the way with 21 goals in 20 so far.
At the time of writing, the UK’s best football betting sites have Kane at around 33/1 to win the Ballon d’Or in 2025.
