Interim manager Omer Riza has since led the Welsh side to one victory and a second draw, however they remain at the bottom of the second-tier table with just five points.<\/p>\n<p>While Riza has put himself forward for the job on a permanent basis, Cardiff will reportedly look elsewhere, with\u00a0<em>LondonWorld\u00a0<\/em>claiming that Makelele and Reading boss Ruben Selles are among those named on their shortlist.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Exclusive: Chelsea and Real Madrid legend Claude Mak\u00e9l\u00e9l\u00e9 in talks over becoming next Cardiff City manager<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CS8z8E1tbM\">https:\/\/t.co\/CS8z8E1tbM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chris Wheatley (@ChrisWheatley) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrisWheatley\/status\/1844722104685805923?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 11, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Makelele, a legendary defensive midfielder formerly of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/have-chelsea-been-transformed-under-enzo-maresca\/\">Chelsea<\/a>, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and France, already has coaching experience within the English game, and Wales for that matter, as he was previously Paul Clement&#8217;s assistant at Cardiff&#8217;s bitter rivals Swansea City.<\/p>\n<p>Talks linking 51-year-old Makelele with a move to the Welsh capital come following his departure from Greek side Asteras Tripolis, where he spent just three weeks at the helm.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman explained his decision to leave the Greek Super League outfit in an interview with <em>London World<\/em>, revealing that members of the club hierarchy interfered when it came to team selection.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I love the job, but I can\u2019t accept when people interfere and tell me what I can or cannot do,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They promised me full control of the team. It was my decision who played or didn\u2019t play. Transfers were not my responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you want to sack me because the results are not good, that\u2019s fine. This is football. But I don\u2019t want people telling me who should or shouldn\u2019t play.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He continued: &#8220;I\u2019ll see what\u2019s coming next. I want to make players progress. I\u2019m happy when I see managers like Arteta, Guardiola, and Klopp \u2013 they make mistakes, but they understand how to help players grow into big players.
