Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has revealed that he expects to make his return from injury in December, and said that the wants to ‘shut people up’ by winning a Grand Slam singles title.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of tennis<\/a>‘ biggest personalities Nick Kyrgios could soon be returning to the court after the Australian revealed that he expects to make his return from injury at the World Tennis League event in Abu Dhabi this coming December.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios has suffered with several injuries over the course of the last two years, and he has played just one ATP Tour singles match during that time. That came at the Stuttgart Open in June 2023, where he lost in straight sets to Wu Yibing.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old has even hinted at a potential early retirement in the past, however he now seems as determined as ever to make his return and to prove his doubters wrong.<\/p>\n

Nick Kyrgios: Winning Grand Slam ‘Will Shut People Up’<\/h2>\n

Speaking to News Corp’s\u00a0CODE Sports\u00a0<\/em>podcast, Kyrgios confirmed that he will indeed return to the tennis court and that winning a Grand Slam<\/a> singles title is a deep motivation to prolong his career.<\/p>\n

“I am coming back because something is keeping me around the game.<\/p>\n

“I have beaten pretty much every person that has been put in front of me, made a final of a Grand Slam, won a doubles title in a Grand Slam, won multiple titles and made money.<\/p>\n

“But I think the one thing that is now on my target is a Grand Slam. I think that will be the only thing that will shut people up at the end of the day.<\/p>\n

“That’ll be my deep motivation.”<\/p>\n

His mooted return for the World Tennis League in December comes just a month before the 2025 Australian Open gets underway, with Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley revealing that he expects Kyrgios to take part at the major.<\/p>\n

“We would love to have Nick back playing in 2025. We believe he will be – he’s out there practising and playing,” Tiley said.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been in touch with his team in the last couple of days, and he’s fully expecting to play. We expect to see Nick on the court, playing.<\/p>\n

“The confidence that we get about Nick playing is we know he’s doing more than he’s done before, we know that he wants to do it.”<\/p>\n
