The Old Roan Chase runners will see just five runners but jump racing lovers will still be excited to see several well-known names in the line-up. <\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s also a race trainer Paul Nicholls (3 wins) needs just one more success in to become the winning-most stable in the history of the contest – he’s set to run Stage Star and Hitman.<\/p>\n

Old Roan Chase Runners See Many Familiar Faces Back On The Track (Despite Only 5 Entries)<\/em>
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After some top jumps action at the Cheltenham Showcase Meeting<\/a> over the weekend, there is no let-up for National Hunt fans as Aintree<\/strong> stages their Old Roan Chase<\/strong> card on Sunday.<\/p>\n

A stellar cast of just five runners head to the Liverpool track too, with many familiar faces getting their 2024\/25 National Hunt campaigns underway.<\/p>\n

It’s also been a race that favourite backers with the best horse racing betting sites in the UK<\/a> have struggled in – with only one winning market leader in the last ten.<\/p>\n

Plus, the last two winners have returned 25\/1 and 16\/1, so it’s a contest that is not shy of throwing up the odd shock.<\/p>\n

Last year’s runner-up Minella Drama<\/strong> is one of the Old Roan Chase runners back for more (watch below) and with many others rated higher in this time he’s set to carry just 10-5 in horse racing<\/a> weight – which is a massive 18lbs lower than 12 months ago.<\/p>\n

Stage Star Heads The Old Roan Chase Market
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As mentioned, trainer Paul Nicholls only need one more win in the Old Roan Chase<\/strong> to be the winning-most handler and with Hitman and Stage Star he’s got a top chance of doing just that.<\/p>\n

Stage Star<\/strong> landed the 2023 Turners’ Novices Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and returned last season to take the Paddy Power Gold Cup at the same track.<\/p>\n

He lost his way a bit after that win, but was last seen running a fair 5th in the Ryanair Chase at the Festival.<\/p>\n

Ahoy Senor<\/strong> is another big name that could run. However, this Lucinda Russell horse last won nine races ago, when taking the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham in 2023 and failed to get his head in front in 2024.<\/p>\n

He also ran in the Ryanair Chase (6th) – but, on a plus, returned to form with a fine second in the Bowl Chase here at Aintree back in April – beaten just 1\/2 a length to the Gold Cup second Gerri Colombe (watch below).<\/p>\n
