Palmer’s seventh goal of the season was the decisive score of the afternoon after Aleksander Isak’s goal for the visitors had cancelled out Nicolas Jackson’s opener.<\/p>\n

Jackson slotted home an easy finish after Pedro Neto squared the ball to him in the 18th minute. But it was Palmer<\/a> who created the goal.<\/p>\n

His inch-perfect through ball from deep set Neto on his way, scything through Newcastle’s<\/a> defence and bypassing the Magpies’ midfield.<\/p>\n

The visitors equalised through Isak before half time but could not find a winner. They could have scored another when Isak rounded Chelsea keeper Sanchez, but last-ditch Blues defence kept him from finding the net a second time.<\/p>\n

Palmer’s winner came just after the break, slotting the ball past Nick Pope from just inside the box.<\/p>\n

Chelsea<\/a> then had a late penalty awarded when Christopher Nkunku appeared to be fouled inside the box. But after a review, the VAR footage showed the forward slipped.<\/p>\n
