Manchester United closed out the Ruud van Nistelrooy era with a 3-0 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Van Nistelrooy recorded three wins and a draw during his time as interim manager ahead of Ruben Amorim<\/a> stepping into the job on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

It was a special afternoon for United skipper Bruno Fernandes, who was celebrated before the 2pm kick-off which marked his 250th appearance for the club since arriving in 2020.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils took the lead courtesy of Fernandes inside the first 20 minutes, latching onto a clever backheel from Amad Diallo and curling home from the edge of the area.<\/p>\n

The lead was doubled before the interval when Noussair Mazraoui’s delivery was met by Fernandes and Foxes defender Victor Kristiansen was credited with the own-goal after a deflection.<\/p>\n

Alejandro Garnacho was introduced around the hour mark and he got in on the act in the closing stages, sending one in to the top corner from outside the box in impressive style.<\/p>\n

United have their first three points in the league since a 2-1 win over Brentford in mid October, allowing Van Nistelrooy<\/a> to step aside on a high.<\/p>\n
