All-time Premier League top goalscorer Alan Shearer believes that interim Manchester United manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will part ways with the club upon the arrival of Ruben Amorim.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ruud van Nistelrooy enjoyed an unbeaten spell as interim Manchester United boss, but with Ruben Amorim<\/a> set to take over in a permanent capacity following November’s international window, Alan Shearer believes that the Dutchman will part ways with the club in favour of being number one elsewhere.<\/p>\n

The ex-Red Devils striker re-joined the club as Erik ten Hag<\/a>‘s assistant from PSV in the summer, but stepped up to take charge of the side following his compatriot’s dismissal towards the end of last month.<\/p>\n

Van Nistelrooy’s short tenure got underway with a 5-2 win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup, followed by a 1-1 draw with Chelsea<\/a> in the Premier League and a 2-0 win over PAOK in Europe.<\/p>\n

He signed off as interim United boss on Sunday afternoon by overcoming the Foxes for a second time, with Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho netting in a comfortable 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Alan Shearer Backs Van Nistelrooy To Leave Manchester United<\/h2>\n

Speaking on\u00a0The Rest Is Football\u00a0<\/em>podcast alongside Gary Lineker and Micah Richards, Alan Shearer tipped Van Nistelrooy to bid farewell to Manchester United<\/a> despite doing an excellent job in steadying the ship in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a big personality, you get the feeling he wants to be a number one,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wants to be a manager. It wouldn\u2019t surprise me at all if he was to have a clean break and say, \u2018I\u2019ve done what was asked of me, thank you very much\u2019, and Amorim came in and had a clean sweep. He’s bringing all his own people in.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen Ruud can go and find himself a number one job somewhere. He\u2019s done himself no harm at all. In fact, he\u2019s done a great job. He\u2019s done everything asked of him and more. He\u2019s settled the ship, he\u2019s picked up points as they had to do, he\u2019s got the results as they had to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone knows how much he loves Man United and they love him. That\u2019s not going to change. So it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if he shook hands and said, \u2018Thanks very much\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lineker echoed Shearer’s sentiments, stating: “It also wouldn’t surprise me if Ruben Amorim comes in and goes ‘do you really want someone who’s been part of the previous regime in there?’<\/p>\n

“Especially a big personality like that, and where do you place him, is he first assistant? I think it might be a little bit awkward and I suspect like you Alan, he might go elsewhere.”<\/p>\n

Incoming boss Amorim, meanwhile, confirmed on Sunday that he’ll hold talks with Van Nistelrooy over his future at the club upon his arrival in Manchester.<\/p>\n

“A legend of the club. He did a great job, I have to talk with him tomorrow. Then I will explain everything. I am very clear and I will tell you like it is. Let’s wait until tomorrow.”<\/p>\n
