Jon Rahm has reportedly chose to opt out of the DP World Tour Championship but is hopeful over securing a place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Spanish golf star has made this decision after competing in the four regular season events that are needed to keep a membership.<\/p>\n

Despite this decision to stand down from upcoming tournaments, Jon Rahm is still eyeing up a place in Luke Donald’s Team Europe for the 2025 Ryder Cup<\/p>\n

After finishing in the top 50 for the DP World Tour rankings, Rahm earned a spot in the DP World Tour Championship – which is the final event of the year and is open to just 50 golfers.<\/p>\n

Rahm would have been one of the favourites on UK betting sites<\/a> as he has won a record-high amount of titles at the Earth Course – winning three times.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson confirmed this during the week, saying (Via Golf Magic):\u00a0“Jon Rahm has not entered the DP World Tour Championship.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This is not the only tournament that Rahm has missed, as the Spaniard also opted out of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.<\/p>\n

Entering these competitions would not have come without its issues, as he has only just been accepted back onto the DP World Tour (subject to an appeal) after receiving fines for joining LIV Golf Tour in 2023.<\/p>\n

Rahm spoke on the fines, saying:\u00a0“I’m not a big fan of the fines. I don’t intend to pay the fines and we keep trying to have a discussion with them (the DP World Tour) about how we can make this happen.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I intend to play in Spain. Whether they let me play or not is a different thing.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Rahm made his debut for LIV Golf in early 2024 after completing a \u00a3450 million move and is hoping to earn his DP World Tour membership in time to play in the next Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
