Former Spurs manager David Pleat says the time might have come for Tottenham to part ways with Son Heung-Min.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spurs are no strangers to selling top talents. In recent years they have allowed some incredible players to leave.<\/p>\n

Most notably, Tottenham sold Harry Kane<\/a> to Bayern Munich last year. They had already moved on the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, and have since let Hugo Lloris leave.<\/p>\n

There is one player from the Mauricio Pochettino era still at the club, though. Son Heung-Min.<\/p>\n

The Korean star has been incredible for Tottenham<\/a> over the years, but at 32, he is in the twilight of his career.<\/p>\n

And with speculation around Son’s contract situation, David Pleat has raised the possibility of cashing in.<\/p>\n

David Pleat Explains Why Tottenham Should Sell Son Heung-Min<\/h2>\n

Pleat discussed Son on The Joy of Football, and gave his opinion on the player’s situation.<\/p>\n

He suggested now might be the time to let Son go, in order to maximise the potential profit before his value starts to decrease.<\/p>\n

Pleat said:\u00a0\u201cTo recognise the time when it\u2019s time to go. It would be fascinating to see this season at the end, which has a few months to go, what Tottenham do with Son.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s a lot of talk about him getting an extra year.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I just wonder whether, if they can agree it with another club, might be the best time to maximise on that. Just my opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Son Heung-Min’s Tottenham Career Stats<\/h2>\n

While David Platt may argue Son Heung-Min’s time is up with Spurs, the stats suggest he is still a vital player for Ange Postecoglou’s team.<\/p>\n

Son has three goals and three assists in eight games so far this season.<\/p>\n

And in almost ten years with the club, he has been a tremendous servant. Since joining in August 2015, Son has racked up 165 goals and 87 assists in 419 games in all competitions.<\/p>\n

His best season saw him win the Premier League Golden Boot in 2021\/22, tying with Liverpool’s Mo Salah<\/a> with 23 league goals.<\/p>\n

But while he is not hitting the same numbers any more, Son is still a huge part of the Spurs squad, and provides essential leadership and experience.<\/p>\n

There is no room for sentiment in elite football, but having a character like Son around will be a huge benefit for younger players.<\/p>\n

Archie Gray has already highlighted the impact of Son’s leadership on him.<\/p>\n
