He will miss Spurs\u2019 Premier League games with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/liverpool-transfer-news\/\">Liverpool<\/a>, Chelsea and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/pep-guardiola-contract-extension-man-city\/\">Manchester City,<\/a> as well as their League Cup quarter-final against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/manchester-united-ruben-amorim-sporting-lisbon-transfer\/\">Manchester United.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But Bentancur will be eligible for European games, as the FA ban only applies to domestic competitions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a seven-match suspension and \u00a3100,000 fine on Rodrigo Bentancur for a breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to a media interview.<\/p>\n<p>Full statement: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dr5Jw7Fwhq\">https:\/\/t.co\/dr5Jw7Fwhq<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yhJ2mhOPtC\">pic.twitter.com\/yhJ2mhOPtC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; FA Spokesperson (@FAspokesperson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FAspokesperson\/status\/1858457817037832586?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 18, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>Tottenham Explain Decision To Appeal Ban<\/h2>\n<p>Tottenham <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DCmIT9dtt3i\/?igsh=MXZqbG5tOW15MXRvNA%3D%3D\">in a statement on their social media channels<\/a> insisted they won&#8217;t appeal the guilty verdict given against Rodrigo Bentancur which led to his ban.<\/p>\n<p>However, they feel as though the sanction imposed on their player was &#8216;severe&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Their statement read: <em>&#8220;We can confirm that the Club has appealed against the length of Rodrigo Bentancur\u2019s FA suspension, issued earlier this week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;While we accept the guilty finding against Rodrigo by the independent regulatory commission, we believe the subsequent sanction is severe.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Rodrigo will remain suspended from domestic competitions while the appeal is heard and the Club will make no further comment during this time.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>What Slur Did Rodrigo Bentancur Say To Get Banned?<\/h2>\n<p>In the charges levied at Rodrigo Bentancur by the FA which led to his ban, he was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/rodrigo-bentancur-charged-misconduct-heung-min-son\/\"> said to have breached rule E3<\/a>, relating to \u201c<em>misconduct in relation to a media interview<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This was deemed an \u2018aggravated breach\u2019 by the FA as it \u201cincluded a reference, whether express or implied, to nationality and\/or race and\/or ethnic origin\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>During the interview, Bentancur was asked for a Tottenham shirt by the presenter.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, he said:\u00a0<em>\u201cSonny\u2019s? It could be Sonny\u2019s cousin too as they all look the same<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bentancur later apologised for what he described as a \u201c<em>very bad joke<\/em>\u201d, and publicly apologised to Son.<\/p>\n<p>Before the ban was handed out, South Korean forward Son confirmed he and Rodrigo Bentancur settled the matter in private.<\/p>\n<p>Son said: \u201cI\u2019ve spoken with Rodrigo Bentancur. He made a mistake, he knows this and has apologised. Lolo would not mean to ever intentionally say something offensive.
