Rafael Nadal To Play In Golf Tournaments Following Retirement<\/h2>\n

Rafael Nadal’s journey in tennis came to an end after Spain were eliminated in the Davis Cup<\/a> quarter finals but his journey in the world of golf has just started.<\/p>\n

After a few days away from tennis, the Spaniard decided to take part in an amateur golf tournament in his home nation.<\/p>\n

Nadal played at the Hexagonal Circuit Q-Romia de Son Servera, Mallorca, where he managed to achieve an eighth placed finish – scoring 76 across the tournament.<\/p>\n

The tennis icon, who won 22 grand slams during his career, has been heavily interested in golf for several years and impressed in Mallorca – hitting two birdies.<\/p>\n

Nadal was a part of a team under the Rafael Nadal Academy and managed to help his side finish fourth overall at the competition.<\/p>\n

After calling it quits in the sport of tennis, the Spaniard is set to compete in two golf tournaments that are coming up – showing interest in the\u00a0LIV Golf Valderrama and the Acciona Open in Madrid.<\/p>\n

His capability in the sport of golf is extremely high for someone who has not played professionally, peaking at a handicap of -1.0 which is better than a lot of tour golfers.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Nadal played in golf tournament during 2012 but prior to his recent tournament, had not been consistent at golf tournaments<\/p>\n

However, in 2020 the Spanish star played in the Balearic Golf Championship and impressed by finishing sixth against long-time professionals.<\/p>\n

Nadal’s<\/a> family have found huge success in several sports, with his uncle Miguel Angel Nadal playing football at the highest level for Barcelona and Mallorca.<\/p>\n

His other uncle, Toni Nadal, was also successful in tennis, coaching Rafael Nadal through his stunning career across two decades.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
