Vlahovic and McKennie Score In Damaging Defeat For City<\/h2>\n

Looking to get back to winning ways after a frustrating draw away at Crystal Palace on Sunday, Manchester City<\/a> travelled to Turin to take on Serie A giants Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Cityzens headed into the tie having failed to win each of their last two matches in the competition, losing 4-1 to Sporting in early November, followed by a bitterly disappointing 3-3 draw with Feyenoord at home two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

It was a first-half to forget from a neutral’s point of view, with chances few and far between, however Pep Guardiola<\/a>‘s side looked likeliest to open the scoring.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the reigning English champions, that meant nothing, as the hosts took the lead eight minutes into the second period. Kenan Yildiz’s curled right-footed cross found Dusan Vlahovic at the back post, and despite Ederson getting in the way of his header initially, his effort just about crept over the line.<\/p>\n

City fought tooth and nail to get back into the tie, but they were unable to find a leveller.<\/p>\n

The hosts introduced American duo Timothy Weah and Weston McKennie on the 69-minute mark, and it would prove a valuable move for Thiago Motta, with the pair combining beautifully for the\u00a0Old Lady<\/em>‘s second goal.<\/p>\n

McKennie sent Weah in behind down the right-hand side, and after Rico Lewis blocked his initial cross, the forward’s second ball found McKennie in the middle, who struck a wonderful first-time volley beyond Ederson.<\/p>\n

Defeat leaves the Cityzens with just one win in their last 10 matches across all competitions and in 22nd place in the Champions League<\/a> table, just about in the playoff positions, while Juventus climb up to 14th.<\/p>\n
