{"id":26056,"date":"2024-12-18T09:22:40","date_gmt":"2024-12-18T09:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/?p=26056"},"modified":"2024-12-18T09:22:40","modified_gmt":"2024-12-18T09:22:40","slug":"scottie-scheffler-and-rory-mcilroy-bank-10-million-in-crypto-the-showdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/scottie-scheffler-and-rory-mcilroy-bank-10-million-in-crypto-the-showdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy Bank $10 Million Crypto After Winning &#8216;The Showdown&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy landed a nice early Christmas present after winning $5m each in Crypto when seeing off Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in the much hyped &#8216;The Showdown&#8217; event in Las Vegas.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Scheffler and McIlroy Beat DeChambeau and Koepka To Win $10m Crypto.com Showdown<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>With the main <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/golf\/\">golf<\/a> season over in the build-up to Christmas, Crypto.com took the chance to entice four of the biggest names in the sport away from their festive shopping to go head-to-head for a $10m crypto purse.<\/p>\n<p>Billed as &#8216;The Showdown&#8217;, the 18 hole event saw world number one and US Masters champion <strong>Scottie Scheffler<\/strong> paired with world number three <strong>Rory McIroy<\/strong> from the PGA Tour &#8211; taking on LIV Golf&#8217;s <strong>Bryson DeChambeau <\/strong>and<strong> Brooks Koepka.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The competition, which was staged at the Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, was contested as best ball over the fist six holes, alternate shots over the next six and the final six holes played as singles.<\/p>\n<p>While in the build-up the banter was flowing in the warm-up with US Open winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/bryson-dechambeau-makes-bold-comment-over-rory-mcilroys-collapse-at-us-open\/\">Bryson DeChambeau taunting McIlroy<\/a> about his collapse in that event.<\/p>\n<p>However, as the four tee&#8217;d off Scheffler and McIlroy were dominant from the off &#8211; winning the four-ball match 3&amp;2 in only four holes &#8211; which included a cracking birdie from Rory.<\/p>\n<p>Which quickly turned the event into a one-sided clash.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rory from way downtown for eagle!
