Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has questioned Marcus Rashford’s choices on and off the field, saying the Englishman is on borrowed time at Old Trafford.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scholes’ comments on The Overlap Fan Debate came before Rashford’s explosive interview on Tuesday (17th December), in which he said he was ready for a new challenge, a fresh chapter away from his boyhood club.<\/p>\n

Rashford, who was Man Utd’s poster boy for nearly a decade, was dropped from Ruben Amorim’s squad to face Manchester City<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday, 15th December. According to Mail Sport, the 27-year-old also did not train on Monday after the club doctor diagnosed him with a high temperature.<\/p>\n

The following day, Rashford said:<\/p>\n

“For me, personally, I think I\u2019m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.<\/em><\/p>\n

“If I know that a situation is already bad I\u2019m not going to make it worse. I\u2019ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don\u2019t want to be that person. When I leave I\u2019ll make a statement and it will be from me<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Paul Scholes Does Not Think Marcus Rashford Is Happy at Manchester United<\/h2>\n

Speaking on The Overlap (recorded on Monday and aired on Wednesday), Scholes commented on Rashford’s future after Amorim dropped the forward for the Manchester derby.<\/p>\n

The former Manchester United midfielder said (via The Daily Mail):<\/p>\n

“It feels like the end for him. He doesn’t look happy, the lad.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

“Even if he’s scoring a goal. You think, what’s wrong with him. Is he getting the right support behind the scenes? You don’t know what’s happening. But it did happen with (Erik) ten Hag, I think he was late for a meeting before the Wolves game, and again, he’s been left out of this squad. I think his on and off the field choices aren’t quite right.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

Scholes continued:<\/p>\n

“I hate seeing local lads leave, especially when they’re so talented. But I think the thing with Marcus is, he was that good two years ago, when he had that season when he scored 30 goals – he’s just never managed to get to that level again, and that’s why he gets the stick.<\/em><\/p>\n

“He produced the standard, and then for the past 18 months, two years, he’s just been nowhere near<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Rashford has played 426 games for Manchester United in all competitions so far, scoring 138 times and providing 63 assists. His contract with the Red Devils runs out in June 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
